Rankings
Organic and visible position
A deep explanation of organic rank, visible rank, delta and the effect of SERP blocks.
The organic position counts only the classic organic results. The visible position counts the row on the screen, including blocks that push the links down.
- Organic position
- 1 is the first organic result, no matter how many ads or features are above it.
- Visible position (eye icon + N)
- Under the organic number: N is the row among all visible SERP elements. It can be worse than the organic one.
- Delta
- The difference from the previous snapshot. Moving from 12 to 7 is an improvement of 5 places.
- 100+
- Not found within the tracked depth.
Example
If there are Ads, an AI Overview and Local above the first blue link, the site can be organic 1 but visible 4 (eye + 4 under the number). Organic shows the SEO ranking; visible explains the real scrolling and part of the CTR.
When each metric is useful
- For SEO progress: organic position.
- For CTR and on-screen competition: visible position + SERP features.
- For real clicks: GSC.
- For visits after the click: GA.
- For AI citation: AI Results Tracker.
