Traffic
Traffic from AI assistants
What the AI sessions block counts, what it misses and how to use it.
The AI assistants block is an Analytics report of visits that came from recognizable AI referrers. This is traffic after a click, not visibility in an answer.
- Sessions
- Visits attributed to ChatGPT, Gemini or another recognized AI source.
- Users
- Users in those sessions, if the UI shows the metric.
- Engagement
- The quality of the visits according to GA.
- Conversions/key events
- Business actions after an AI referral.
What may be missing
- An AI app may strip the referrer and GA reports Direct.
- Google AI Overview stays Google organic.
- Consent blocks part of the measurement.
- Forwarding through an intermediate domain can change the source.

Usually not separately; they stay in Google organic.
